Srabanidi and I...

Srabani Sen has been a turning point so far as my musical career is concerned---its she who has initiated me to Rabindranath and his vast repertoire of compositions, its she who inculcated in me a deep interest to listen to stalwarts like Sagar Sen,Debabrata Biswas,Purba Dam,Kanika Bandyopadhyay,Geeta Ghatak,Maya Sen----all the luminaries of the genre...Srabanidi introduced me to studio recordings and has given me all that an ideal mentor could....I remember spending lazy afternoons at 58/3,Ballygunge Circular Road listening in awe to her renditions like Aj Shraboner Purnimatey,Jibane Amar Jato Anondo,Dure Kothaye,Aha,Tomar Shongey and picking up the intricacies and subtleties of tough compositions like Bujhi oi Shudure,Nibiro Megher  Chhayay,Tomar Shur Shunaye and so many less heard numbers of Rabindranath....
